Coach Tom Coughlin got annoyed at reporters asking questions about Beckham's hamstring injury Monday and indicated the rookie wideout could miss 2-3 weeks, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Analysis: It's hard to tell how precise Coughlin was being because he was ranting about his annoyance at the situation, but it's clear Beckham is almost a lock to miss Week 1, and we wouldn't count on him for Weeks 2 or 3, either.

After practicing Monday, Watkins (ribs) feels confident about his chances of playing this week, reports. Said the rookie, "I feel just about normal. I had a great practice (Monday). I felt normal. It felt pretty good out there ... I'm hoping I'm going to be out there on the field playing, getting reps with the guys and go out there and try to fight for a win."

Analysis: Watkins may have to wear a flak jacket, but it sounds like he stands a very good chance of playing his first regular season game this week, where he's expected to be a starter right off the bat.

    • Jones is confident he can rise...

Jones is confident he can rise to the expectations of his team this season, a belief that is shared by head coach Mike Tomlin, according to "I expect (Jones), and I expect us, to continually get better even as we push through opening day and into this season," said Tomlin.

Analysis: Jones played in 14 games in his rookie season, but the Steelers will need him to produce more than the one sack he managed in 2013. As a result, he is expected to do less "freelancing" this season, working within the structure of the defense. The result could lead to a significant increase in sacks, making Jones fantasy relevant in IDP leagues.

    • Carr has been confirmed by the...

Carr has been confirmed by the Raiders as their primary starter, Bill Williamson of ESPN Oakland reports.

Analysis: Carr was announced as the Week 1 starter earlier on Monday, and this announcement further cements his role. According to the report, Carr will be the presumed starter for every game, as Raiders' coach Dennis Allen doesn't intend for this to be a week-to-week decision. This means that the originally presumed starter, Matt Schaub, will be delegated to backup duties until Carr's play dictates otherwise. However, the way it sounds, Carr would have to string together several weeks in a row of poor play to make Allen reconsider.

Michael (hamstring) did not practice Monday, Curtis Crabtree of the Associated Press reports.

Analysis: Michael missed the Seahawks' preseason finale Friday and continues to be evaluated. While he's considered questionable at this point, sitting out practice three days before the opener versus Green Bay does not bode well for his status. If he's active Thursday, he'll likely have minimal impact.
